Government to solve problems of pharmaceuticals industry to improve exports: President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce



 President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mohammad Ahmed Wahid, said that the pharmaceuticals industry has the potential to increase billions of dollars in Pakistan's exports, so he emphasized that the government issues important issues of pharma industry for improving exports. He said that despite the decline in Pakistan's overall exports, Pakistan's pharmaceutical exports have increased by several percent in the last few years as our pharmaceuticals exports have increased from about $ 200 million in 2012-13 to $ 250 million in 2018-19. He said that if the government removes all the obstacles to the development of this industry then pharma industry exports could exceed one billion.


He expressed these views while addressing a delegation of Kahuta Industrial Triangle Islamabad who visited the chamber under the leadership of Pharma Industrialist Nasir M. Qureshi and informed the Chamber officials about the problems of their industrial area. Mian Akram Farid, Chaudhry Wahiduddin, Mianshukat Masood, Shaukat Hayat Khan, Haji Humayun, Humayun Altaf, Fada Butt, Iftikhar Anwar Sethi, Naeem Siddiqui and others were also present on the occasion.
Mohammad Ahmed Waheed said that the absence of local raw material for the pharmaceutical industry is a major hurdle in its development as the industry imports more than 90% of its raw materials from abroad so they urged the government to keep it within the country. Provide special incentives to investors to develop pharmaceutical raw materials so that new pharmaceutical raw materials industries can be created in our country which will lead to better development of pharma industry and also promote exports.
He called on the CDA and the Metropolitan Corporation, Islamabad to focus on the development of the Kahuta Industrial Triangle so that industrial activities could be better promoted. He assured the delegation that Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry will cooperate in resolving the problems of Kahuta Industrial Triangle. Expressing his views on the occasion, Kahuta Industrial Triangle delegation leader Nasir M. Qureshi said that the Capital Development Authority (CDE) had neglected the development of his industrial area for the last several years which led to it The industrial area suffers from many problems.
He said that roads in Kahuta Industrial Triangle are suffering from degradation, sewerage system is in dilapidated condition, street lights are not working and other facilities are also lacking due to problems in promoting industrial activities. He asked the CDA and MCI to give immediate attention to the better development of the aforementioned industrial area. Nasir Qureshi also demanded the government to address the problems of the business sector on a priority basis and provide a conducive environment for the pharma industry.
